Free Tiny Snowman Ornament Crochet Pattern

After making my newborn snowman cocoon and hat I really wanted to make another snowman item! I wanted to make something for more than just newborns and ended up with making a little ornament. This way it can be a simple decoration for winter, on the Christmas tree, or for your new baby’s first Christmas. I was originally going to have the ornament match my newborn set, but I thought a little more neutral might be better. I just love the photo that Michele took for me though!Newborn SnowmanIf you would like to see my newborn snowman outfit, you can go here. Now on to the free pattern. 🙂

  • Tapestry Needle
  • Scissors
  • Stitch Marker Recommended
  • Poly-Fill Stuffing

Snowman Body: With E hook and white worsted weight yarn- Made seamless, with no joining. I highly recommend using a stitch marker and moving it up each round.

Round 1: MC, Ch 1, 6 SC into the circle. (6)

Round 2: 2 SC in each st around. (12)

Round 3: 2 SC in the next st, 1 SC in the next st, repeat from * to * around. (18)

Round 4: 2 SC in the next st, 1 SC in the next 2 sts, repeat from * to * around. (24)

Round 6-9: 1 SC in each st around. (30) (4 Rounds)

All of the SC2TOG should be done invisibly, so that there is not gaps between your sts. If you are not sure how to do this, Planet June has great videos and photo tutorials here.

Round 11: SC2TOG, 1 SC in the next 2 sts, repeat from * to * around. (18)

Round 19: SC2TOG, 1 SC in the next st, repeat from * to * around. (8)

If using safety eyes for your buttons, I would place now. I placed mine between round 13-14, round 15-16, and 17-18. Continue to stuff with poly-fill.

Round 20: 2 SC in each st around. (16)

Round 21-23: 1 SC in each st around. (16) (3 Rounds) If using, place safety eyes between rounds 22 and 23, about 4 sts apart.

Round 25: SC2TOG, 1 SC in the next st, repeat from * to * around. (8) Finish stuffing with poly-fill.

Round 26: SC2TOG, 1 SC in the next 2 sts, repeat from * to * around. (6) FO and using a tapestry needle go through the front loops of the remaining sts, two at a time, to close. Weave in end or lose the end in the stuffing.

If you would like to make this little snowman an ornament, then you just need a simple little loop to add on to the top. I used E hook and black worsted weight yarn.
